ABOUT
Cameron Yanoscik has lived a life full of curious experiences.
Born and raised in southern California, Disneyland, and Knott’s Berry Farm were his closest fantasy destinations with his grandparents showing him the world by day and his Momma reading storybooks to him by night. Growing up in a loving family as an only child, he still enjoys reading, celebrating, and learning about different holidays and traveling around the country and abroad while visiting numerous historic sites and museums.
He received his BA in Comparative Literature at the University of California, Davis after which he became a certified ESL instructor. Cameron then spent four years as an English teacher and trainer in cities throughout China including Beijing and Nanjing. Returning back to the States, he pursued careers in marketing in both educational and hospitality companies before he traveled to England where he received his MA in Writing from the University of Warwick’s esteemed Writing Programme. After moving to Santa Fe, New Mexico, he worked for a couple of years at a local non-profit providing resources and services to low-income families. He now calls Denver, Colorado his new home and continues to work in marketing in education.
As a writer, he is inspired by the many beliefs, rituals, tales, and holidays he has read about and learned about in his travels. He mainly draws from the literary traditions of folk and fairy tales, Magical Realism, Gothic, and Romanticism along with stories of fantasy and the supernatural, with particular research interests in ghosts and fairy lore. He has had a few short stories published in three anthologies in the US and the UK (which can be found in the Books section). His first book, Webs of Life, is now available and he looks forward to publishing more stories in years to come! To read some of his current and ongoing works, visit the Stories section.
Cameron now welcomes you to explore his “cabinet of curios”!
